Asalam o alaikum! This is Aeisha and I am the founder of EMPOWER. I am 27 years old, married and a stay at home mom of 2 beautiful children.

You must be wondering what led a stay at home mom to start a modestwear business?!

Well the answer is simple yet not so simple.

It all started in the ramadan of 2021. I was expecting my son and my mom was expected to come for my delivery (she lived in Pakistan). But she couldn't make it and passed away just a week before my son was born. As she was expecting to come to canada, her luggage was all packed. My brother went to Pakistan for her funeral & brought her packed bags
with him. And while looking at all of her stuff that made it to me but my mom couldn't gave me an overwhelming realization which was a turning point in my life.

"BUT THEY PLAN, AND ALLAH PLANS, AND ALLAH IS THE BEST OF PLANNERS." (8:30)

We prepare so much for this world and we are not even promised tomorow. At that moment I decided to set a goal for myself i.e, not to buy anything until I have used all the stuff I already have and save the money to use for greater cause.

At that point I had no plan in my mind to start this business. I went on with my goal of saving money. And then in the ramadan of 2023 I came across a post on facebook.

It was from a new revert seeking help to find modest clothing. She had to change her entire wadrobe and didn't know where to start.

I reached her out and offered to help. I never knew finding good quality modest clothing at an affordable price could be such a task. My modest journey was a slow transition over the 12 years so I couldn't feel it as much. But helping that sister made me realize how big of an issue it is in the west.

You have got only two options; either shop cheap quality affordable clothes or get good quality very expensive clothes. For someone who wears abayas and modest dresses on a daily basis paying 200 plus for one dress/abaya is so unrealistic and unfair.

The sad reality of most of the modestwear stores in the west is that they are making modesty a luxury. When in reality modesty is the basic necessity of a muslim woman.

And on the other hand their main focus is branding modestwear promoting westernized versions of modesty which is contrary to the core essence of modesty in Islam.

With the sole purpose to help muslim women in the west find affordable, good quality and ethically sourced modestwear I took it upon me to step into this industry with literally zero experience in this field. With the bare minimum savings I had since my moms death I started this very small business.

While learning along Empower modest wear makes sure to understand the needs of a muslim woman living in the west. So that we can ensure what we create is according to what they are looking for. Because WE LOVE YOU, SEE YOU, HEAR YOU AND WE ARE HERE FOR YOU!
